5 ways to manage your Telstra Business Bills

Are you a Telstra Business customer? Do you still just check the total of the bill and just pay it without looking at the detail?

Working with over 400 Telstra Business, Enterprise and Government clients across the past 12 years, there seems to be the same feedback:
  • Cant use online billing. It is too confusing.
  • Can't access online billing. I have never been able to log in.
  • Our Accounts department look after that.

What's the result?
  1. Generally paying for services that haven't been used in years.
  2. No proactive management across the accounts.
  3. Paying for items that you didn't realise were there.
  4. Paying more than what you are using.

I have come across multiple customers paying double for old services as well as new services after they had been migrated from one technology to another. When diving deeper into the services, they had been charged these additional costs for YEARS!

Now, contrary to common belief, Telstra doesn't want to charge these additional services, and the people on the other side of the phone also have no idea what they are being used for.

It is usually the responsibility of the person that initially placed the order to cancel the old services, and yes, this doesn't always happen as they are traditionally Salespeople. Just bear in mind that there is also a responsibility of the customer to ensure that these replacement costs are correct, which merely looking at the total of the bill won't help you define.

Here's an example - One client I have worked with owns and operates a number of Hotel chains. We were able to identify 40+ services that had not been used in over five years, but no-one had any idea what they were used for. No-one wanted to be held responsible for turning something off that might be needed.

Luckily being in the industry for such a long time, I know that some of these services could be used in Lifts, Fire Panels, Back to Base Alarms and other unusual devices. These devices are generally only used on an event-based circumstance which is usually when some poor soul is stuck in a lift.

Whats the solution?
Through our auditing process, we were able to isolate these services, create a register and disconnect the unused numbers saving the business in excess of $60k per year! Not bad for a straightforward activity.

So here's how can you manage your bills better!
  1. Gain access to online billing, T analyst or Your Telstra Tools.
  2. Get training on online billing, T analyst or YTT.
  3. Monitor your Mobile usage under the mobile usage report.
  4. Set up Cost Centres and set up automatic reporting.
  5. Outsource the billing management to My vCIO.

Our Proactive Management style creates a Baseline report, here's an example for you to have a look, that helps identify cost savings and inefficiencies. By outsourcing to us, not only will you get a rounded-up, need to know version of exactly what's going on with your bills, you will have access to highly experienced ICT individuals that can assist with ALL of your IT and Communications needs!
